David was a regular at the thrift store where I worked weekends. I looked forward to seeing him every Friday after he got off work. We talked about books, Chicago, art, family, cooking. . . when three weeks passed without seeing him, I called his workplace, hesitant to call myself a friend (since, indeed, I didn't even know his last name) yet worried that I hadn't seen him and missing his company. All of us at 'For the Love of Hospice' will miss you David: your smile, your intelligence, your gentle and friendly spirit. I had so looked forward to finally finding just the right night to go out for a beer. I miss you!

David was a regular at the Whatcom Humane Society's Paws Awhile gift shop in Bellingham's Fairhaven District. All the volunteers who knew him there were fond of him and appreciated his interest in the eclectic inventory and his vast knowledge about things unusual. Lots of us have stories of how David helped to identify some new and unusually item that had been donated to the shop. He was a sweet, kind man and he will be truly missed by his many friends at Paws Awhile.
