Dave & Penny,
I was just thinking of you, thanking God for you, and praying for your family. I decided to search for you online and came across this remembrance of Jens. I didn't know you'd lost him and am now sharing some of the grief you've carried for the last ten years. I pray our loving Father continues to give you peace and strength (as I know He has) and that you and your family will be blessed by the comforting presence of the Holy Spirit. You have always been very dear to me since I met you 52 years ago (around the time Kevin was born!). If you ever see this note, please know that it comes with the highest regards. God be with you.....

Dr Magelssen,
I just learned of your son's tragic death. My heart aches for you and your wife, his son, your other children, relatives and friends. I remember you telling me about your son, the Police Officer in Hawaii and your Grandson. I an so so sorry and I will keep you all close in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
I have been thinking about you recently having no idea of this unthinkable loss.
May God bless you as you grieve the loss of your special child. He sounds like a very special person with many of your attributes.

I was Jens Young Life leader during his days at Lakes. He was such a fun loving, enthusiastic young man who made everyone happier when he walked in the room. I know that God will comfort you and walk along side you in this grief since He also knows what it means to lose a son.

I fondly remember the Magelssen family and particularly Jens in the years we shared at Hudtloff. Jens was a member of the Hudtloff wrestling team as a varsity wrestler in 1989 as a 115 lb participant and in 1990 as a 145 lb participant. I remember his competitive spirit and devotion to the team. I was privileged to have coached him. I was glad to hear of his continued athleticism into adulthood. My memories of Jens will be with me forever and I hope the Magelssen family finds peace and solace in the memories of his time with us.
