Therese Beirith Obituary

Therese passed away peacefully on January 31, 2013 from complications of diabetes. Therese lived a life full of love, family, and friends. She was born in 1932 in Roznow, Germany - which after 1945 became Roznow, Poland. Her family later moved to the Luneberger Heide in Germany where she was raised with a loving family. Here she also met the love of her life, Anton Beirith. They met on New Year's Eve at a local dance. This led to a lifelong passion of dancing whenever she could. They married and had a son, Gunther. They decided to immigrate to the United States and in 1956 their dream came true and they made a new home in St. Louis, Mo. Later she was instrumental in helping many other family members to immigrate to be with her. She learned English quickly by working jobs to help the family. When Anton started a bricklaying business Therese became his right hand man by bookkeeping and even driving the dump truck whenever she was needed. When Anton was offered the opportunity to work for a bank building company and travel, Therese thought this would be a great adventure and they began a lifetime love of visiting new places and making new friends. Therese continued to be Anton's bookkeeper and helped him to run his projects. When they remodeled a bank in Bellingham, Therese fell in love with the town and always thought she would return. Therese had a great love for gardening and she planted flowers and vegetables wherever she went. In 1978, Therese decided to return to Bellingham while Anton continued to travel and finish his career. She got her real estate license and started a successful career of her own as a realtor. Therese also loved cooking and she made the best wiener schnitzel and cabbage rolls ever. But everyone really loved her rum cake! Therese was dearly loved by everyone she met and she will be truly missed. Therese also had a love for animals and was an avid contributor to the Whatcom County Humane Society. She also believed in giving back to the community by giving blood and was honored by the Red Cross by all the gallons she donated. Therese was a generous and caring human being. She is preceded in death by her husband Anton and son Gunther, and is survived by her daughter Christina and her husband David, and many family and friends who will always love her for her spirit and kindness to others. She taught us well. The family has chosen to have no funeral services. In lieu of sending flowers please donate to the Whatcom County Humane Society in Therese's behalf. A memorial is available for sharing thoughts and memories at www.JernsFuneralChapel.net.
