Katheryne Lich North Meek passed away from a stroke on February 16, 2013 at the age of 92. She was born Nov. 10, 1920 in Bellingham to Henry and Pauline Lich. She married John W. North in 1944 and they had two daughters. She was an accomplished violinist, featured at her graduation and following that radio performance. She also was a great pianist, and enjoyed performing for friends and family. During her life she was also a nurse and business owner including Cecil's Hat Shop and Golden Tides Resort at Birch Bay. She and her family moved to Bellevue, Wa. in 1961 where she was employed with Frederick and Nelson, opened the Pink Garter and began a long career with the Bon Marche, retiring in 1971. She married Wendell P. Meek, and they divorced in 1973. She moved to Maui, Hawaii with her life partner Alden Hansen. They returned and made their home in both Hemet, Ca. and Birch Bay in 1978. Her daughters moved her to Bellevue to reside closer to her family. She had the loving care of everyone at Sunset Gardens and Evergreen Hospice during her final days. She leaves two daughters, Sheila K. Perez (Joe) and Paula R. Harvey (John), grandchildren Marlo K. Rowe (Scott), Bradley and Andrew Harvey (Jayne), great-granddaughter Olivia Higgins and great-grandsons Matthew and Jacob Harvey, sisters Jean Purdy and Arlene Peterson (Les) and their families. A celebration of her life is planned for Sat., April 27th at C.J.'s Beach House in Birch Bay, Blaine, Wa.
