"Rob", Dad, Grandpa, Great "Gampa" peacefully passed away on May 13, 2013, in Lynden at the age of 96 into the loving arms of his Lord whom he loved and faithfully served. Bob was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His mother became widowed when he was 5 years old. To make ends meet she rented out spare rooms in her house. When he was young, Bob enjoyed camping and sailing with his younger brother Norman. They sailed around Long Island in their homemade boat designed for easy subway transport. Bob served his country as a First Lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II
. He was also part of the National Guard as a young man. In 1961, Bob and his wife Florence packed their 4 children into a 19-foot travel trailer, moved across the country, and lived in it for 6 months. After decades as a CPA, he sold his accounting firm and retired to Whidbey Island. He was an honest, hard working, and active person. He played the violin, mandolin, harmonica, and sang in the choir and sang solos in church. Bob was an active member of rotary and school boards. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. Bob enjoyed gardening, woodworking, reading, and learning new things. Bob and Florence were married 70 years. He truly loved his 4 children: Richard of Raleigh, NC, Peter and Paul of Lynden, WA, and Nancy of Soldotna, AK, along with 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was much loved, and now missed, by all.
