June 6, 1917 -February 10, 2011 Memorial gifts may be sent to St. Paul's Endowment Fund; 2117 Walnut St., Bellingham, WA 98225. A Burial Eucharist will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Friday Feb. 18th at 11 am, followed by a reception in the Great Hall. I had the great blessing of having Betty as a neighbor for seven years, and a friend for many more. Betty was someone special. She always thought of others first. She was perceptive. She had the gift of sizing up people and situations with a great deal of discernment. She was honest and clear about her feelings about things. And she could say something honest that was kind and thoughtful at the same time. She didn't waste words. She was always a step ahead of what was going on. Her life was an exquisite example of love in action. Her devotion to her husband and her family was remarkable. She had a terrific sense of humor.

I will miss Betty so much, but I rejoice that she is free. We all know if anyone went to heaven (or could help "us" down here) it would be Betty. Her faith was a living presence in her. Her friendship was one of the greatest gifts of my life. Sharon J. Casey
