There is a special place in heaven for all those who die of a terminal illness as it is a journey where one- "walks slowly to their death." I believe God only gives the strongest of people this task.
Steve taught his family and friends many lessons during this journey, none of which will be forgotten.
The entire Peschek family will be in my thoughts and prayers in the months and years ahead as they try to adjust to this new normal.

I grew up practically living at the Peschek house! They were my second family! I have so many fond memories of Steve from my childhood. He lived his life to the fullest with love and kindness. I feel blessed to have known him! I know that he is at peace with God. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. and Mrs. Peschek, Michelle, Maggie, Mark and Terri. With love, Beth (LaBrie) Billington

Dear brother you will forever leave a void in our hearts but the lessons you taught us are immeasurable. The dignity and strength you showed were beyond what most could accomplish. You learned the lessons that are the most important by telling us all how much you loved us. You were praising God until the end. We had such a great childhood and many happy memories as adults. 4th of July at your house was the best. I know you are with the angels and Saints giving glory to God.

Some of my greatest memories of high school at Bellarmine Prep were spent with Steve as we trained for a marathon. We ran miles and miles in our new Nike Oregon Waffle shoes and laughed and enjoyed every inch.
In one of our last training runs, Brother Jerry Sullivan, our running coach, said "this isn't just a marathon that you are training for, it is a way of life". For both of us, that is what it became.
Steve continued his passion for running until he couldn't do it any more.
I am grateful that I got to share some of his life's miles with him.
