Ann Kurin Obituary

Ann E. Kurin, age 69, of Ferndale, WA, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011. She was born on July 24, 1941 in Iron Mountain, MI. Ann was an inspiring, encouraging, selfless person, and always sacrificed of herself for others in her life. While raising Carol and Kevin, Ann tutored high school kids part-time, and went back to full-time work at Olympic View in Federal Way as an Elementary School Librarian. She loved dark chocolate, irises, collecting coins and $2 bills, and decorative angels. Ann's hobbies included knitting, especially washcloths, traveling by RV, and visiting relatives and friends. She also enjoyed walking and socializing at the mall with her friends. Ann touched many hearts in positive ways and will be missed by her family and friends including her husband of 41 years, Carl; children, Carol and Kevin Kurin; brothers, Robert Johnson, James (Carole) Johnson, and William (Donna) Johnson; sister, Mary Elmore; sister-in-law, Chris Johnson; Carl's family, including brother-in-law Randolph (Gail) Kurin, sister-in-law Kristine (Wilbert) Laaninen; and both family's nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Agnar and Aileen (Grogan) Johnson, brother, Ervin Johnson, and sister-in-law, Judy Johnson. A Funeral Mass will be held in Ann's honor Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 11:00 AM, St. Joachim Catholic Church, 4195 Lummi Shore Rd., Bellingham, WA Memorial contributions may be made in Ann's honor to Catholic Community Services, 1133 Railroad Ave. Suite 100, Bellingham, WA 98225.
