Anna Heutink, of Lynden, was promoted to heaven from the Christian Health Care Center on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the age of 92. Anna was born March 16, 1924 in Iowa to Walter and Marie Smit. She was second oldest of nine children. In March of 1944, Anna married Alvin Heutink and together they had two sons and two daughters. The family moved to Sumas in 1953 where Anna held many small jobs but was always taking care of her home and family. Anna loved to travel, crocheting, knitting, flower gardening and going on outings with her sisters. She was a member of Faith Reformed Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Alvin, a brother and one granddaughter. She is survived by four children Alvin "Butch" (Teresa), Ronald (Gina), Diana (Nick) Laninga, and Vicki (Rev. Bernie) Dykstra; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, 7 siblings, and numerous other nieces, nephews and family members. A time of visitation will be 2-4 pm, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Gillies Funeral Home. The Graveside committal will be 10:15 am, Monday, September 26, at Monumenta Cemetery followed by 11 am, Memorial service at Faith Reformed Church, 300 7th St, Lynden.
