Arthur James Choat (age 63) entered into rest on Nov. 27, 2012 at the Whatcom Hospice House. Arthur was born on April 26, 1949 in Vancouver, WA to Harry and Elsie Choat. He attended and graduated from Hudson's Bay High School in Vancouver, WA in 1967. Art furthered his education at Western Washington University and graduated in 1972. He joined the Army reserves after graduating high school and served his country for six years.
Art married Billie Wells (Pappenfus) on June 7, 2008 in Vancouver, WA. He is survived by his wife, Billie; step daughter, Brandie (Jon) Bacon and their children, Britnie and Jared of Vancouver, WA; sister, Harriett (Bill) Peifer of Vancouver, WA.
Art was a very active individual and enjoyed many hobbies, including photography, reading, and working in his yard. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 7. He was a man with many personal qualities. He will be remembered for being friendly, enthusiastic, caring and loving of his family and friends. He always smiled when his step grandchildren affectionately called him Artpa. He had wonderful communication skills providing positive experiences and achievements for everyone he worked with at the Port of Bellingham. He was faithful, honest, good humored and will be deeply missed by many who knew him.
