Barbara Dorsey Simmons died peacefully in her sleep Sunday April 21st at her home in Washington DC. Barbara Belle was born to Harold Power Dorsey and Idabelle Williams Dorsey in Bellingham, WA November 25th, 1931. Her father was a skilled engineer for the state of Washington and helped build our very own stunning Chuckanut Drive. Barbara grew up in the Broadway Park area with her sister Virginia Jorrisen and brother Bill Dorsey. As a girl she often enjoyed picnicking with her family at their family beach and sometimes voyaging the rowboat out to Dot Island. Barbara attended elementary school at The Campus School, the original teacher's college of WWU. She graduated from Bellingham High in 1950. Then went on to earn her BA at University of Washington, pledged as a Tri Delta. Further, she was in the very first women's class at Fuller Theological Seminary, where she achieved her masters in Christian Education. Barbara Belle was a determined student, courageous leader, devoted wife, and truly dedicated Mother and Grandmother. She committed her life to spreading the word and never failed to share the love she had found in Jesus. She has now been joyfully reunited with her sons Paul David and John Mark in Heaven. Barbara will be missed dearly by her husband Richard and daughters Priscilla, Mary, Shasta, Jasmine, and Rabekah. Her friends and family will forever rejoice in having such a special women touch their hearts with her warm spirit and enchanting smile. Those who would like to lend support to Barbara's family and say goodbye are welcome to attend her memorial May 4th, 10am. Light of the World Prayer Center. 710 E. Sunset Dr., Bellingham, WA.
