Carl Edward "Ed" Boyd A resident of Zachary LA and a native of Ruth, Mississippi, he died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at The Crossing. He was 79 years old and a US Navy veteran. He was a 1955 graduate of Istrouma High School. He was a lifelong pet lover and the proud owner of two dogs, Sebastian and Tiger. He was retired from Whatcom County Sheriff's Office in Bellingham, WA with 27 years of service. Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 6pm until 8pm and continues on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 9am until service at 10am conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes. Burial will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Joseph Boyd, James Boyd, Michael Boyd, Louis Johnston, Clay McBunch and Ralph Boyd. Honorary pallbearer is Gordon Lear. He is survived by 4 sons, Joe Boyd, Zachary, LA, Jim Boyd, Mike Boyd and Dan Boyd all of Bellingham, WA; a sister, Pearl McBunch; grandchildren, Austin, Boyd, Travis Boyd, Nicole Boyd, Adam Boyd, Melissa Boyd and Chris Boyd; 1 great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lacy and Lois Boyd, a brother, Earl Boyd and sister in law, Janet Hebert Boyd. And a brother in law, James McBunch. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Zachary. Ed was a great handyman. He loved repairing and repurposing items. A keen squirrel hunter from an early age and an avid people watcher.
