Donna Joan Hubner, 88, passed away peacefully at her home, Friday, July 1. Born to George and Dona Ostenson in Port Angeles, WA, Donna had a wonderful childhood with cousins, aunts, and uncles. Donna eloped with Bill Hubner when he came home from WWII, beginning their life together in Port Angeles. Bill built houses and worked at Crown Z until they came to Ferndale in 1953 with their two sons, Jon and Mark (Scrub) , for the opening of the new Mobil Oil Refinery. Donna delighted in knowing and keeping track of the boys' friends from the Seamount neighborhood, and in doting on her dachshunds. Leaving Ferndale in 1969 to follow opportunities in the oil industry, they returned to Bellingham in 1986, where Donna renewed old friendships and enjoyed being in the lives of her grandchildren. Bill passed away in 1987. Donna is survived by her sons Jon Hubner (Cindy), Scrub Hubner (Vicki); grandchildren Ian Hubner (Annalee), Mike Hubner, Megan Hubner-Cooley (Travis), Tim Hubner (Michelle); and great-grandchildren Griffin Hubner, Enzo and Oona Hubner. A private family memorial is planned. Many thanks go to the staff at Brookdale. They have been Donna's extended family for years, and their care is greatly appreciated. Donations in Donna's memory may be made to Whatcom Hospice.
The Guest Book is expired.
