I never knew Doris, but I know her son Stan Pilkey, one of the quietest most respectable persons I have ever known. Doris had to have been quite a woman and quite a mother to have raised such a son. My hope is that one day upon my passing someone can say that about me as a father!

I worked with Doris in the old finishing room, on the lower level, at Pacific Coast Paper Mills, where I worked in the summer running the single-fold machine. She presided over the single-fold and double-fold operation, together with Olive Love.
She was a delight to work with.
That was, of course, a little while ago...

Dear Cindy, Melissa, Nick, & family,
I was sorry to read about Doris' passing. She was so kind and helpful to my sister and I when our Dad passed away last year. I have great memories of her, Don, and (Cindy) working in the yard, garden, flower beds,& pool. I also fondly remember Grandpa Messick and Doris occassionally sitting outside in the rocker in the front of the house. She and Don were great neighbors to have growing up, and I know that Mom & Dad both valued them as as well. I will miss knowing that Doris is no longer living on 35th Street....but rejoice believing that she is now living where there are streets of Gold...with our Savior Jesus Christ. Thinking of you.
Blessings,
Joyce (Schencking) Harlan
