Earl Alonzo Griffith, 79, passed away May 24, 2016 in Kenmore, WA. He was born April 22, 1937 in Oakley, Kansas and served in the Navy for 20 years. He completed 3 tours in the Vietnam War as an aviation mechanic on aircraft carriers USS Kitty Hawk and USS Oriskany. In 1963, he married Margie Loomer of Bellingham, becoming an instant father to her 4 children. In 1968, he transferred to Alameda, CA where his beloved daughter, Sheri, was born. He retired from the Navy in 1975 and settled in Kenmore, WA, beginning his career with Boeing, where he worked on a top secret project, the Stealth Bomber. Earl is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheri and survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margie, and children Cindy (James) Bennington, Gresham, OR; Blair Griffith, Blaine, WA; Lori (Paul) Wisheropp, Sacramento, CA; and Brad (Kelly) Griffith, Sequim, WA. Earl is grandfather to 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance with full military honors will be held at Westford Funeral Home in Bellingham, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24.
