Edith Katherine Kreft, age 97 of Bellingham, passed away happy and quietly at her home on Sunday, August 28. Edith was born August 7, 1919, in Sac City, Iowa to Roy B. and Edith (Evans) Beck. She met the love of her life, Willis Kreft, and they married in Iowa on June 1, 1941, living and raising their four children on the family farm. The family moved to Edmonds, Washington, in 1963. Edith returned to college to obtain her teaching certificate and graduated from the University of Washington in 1968. She retired in 1985 from the Lake Washington School District where she was an elementary teacher for 17 years. She and Willis loved traveling around the world and loved collecting the spoon souvenirs from each place that they visited. She was preceded in death by her husband Willis in 2002, her parents, two sisters and four brothers. Edith is survived by her children and their spouses: Edith Anderson, Paulette Freeman, Stanley (Pamela) Kreft, David (Shawn) Kreft and her grandchildren Anne (Rob) Rasmussen, Brian (Rebecca) Kreft, Steven Kreft, Daniel Kreft and Andrew Kreft, five great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Dorothy and Toni Beck, and many loving relatives and friends. A Memorial service will be held Friday, September 9, at 1 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas Street, in Bellingham. Memorials in her name may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or to a
