She was also proud of her work with the Federal Government during World War II. After her retirement working for Ann Gossage she was on the United States District Court, Western Wash Division, Grand Jury in Seattle for 18 months, which was something she truly enjoyed doing her civic duty. Elsie belonged to numerous organizations including, International Secretaries, Credit Women International, National Notary Association, the Whatcom Volunteer Center Advisory Board and St. Anne's Guild for St Paul's Episcopal Church. One of her absolute greatest accomplishments was the 26 years she spent volunteering her time on "Life Line" with Peace Health until she was 91 years old. Elsie is also predeceased by her wonderful loving husband, Llewellyn (Lew) G. English, who passed 30 years ago on June 10, 1986. She is survived by her beloved only child, Kathleen Marie English and her husband Gregory Blonden. She is also survived by her four nieces, Trudy, Sharon, Mary and Susan of Washington and her nephew Bruce of California, her cousin Doris of Idaho and many other cousins. She is also predeceased by her companion of ten years, Melvin (Pete). Elsie and Lew enjoyed their time at the family cabin on Lake Samish, spending time swimming, boating, fishing, skiing and hiking in the woods behind the cabin mostly with their daughter Kathleen and many friends and family. Elsie was a great cook and enjoyed having relatives and friends at the cabin. Both Elsie and Lew were very involved with the Lake Samish Community. They also enjoyed many trips abroad to Europe, Asia and around the United States and Canada. Elsie's family would like to give a special thank you to Olga and James and all of the caregivers at Arcadia who made the last few months of her life so comfortable with their loving and compassionate care. And also thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Circle of Life.
