Evalyne Gertrude (Robison) Shepherd was born January 3, 1921 in Gardiner, Oregon. Her parents, Emma and Arthur Robison, followed logging jobs throughout Oregon during Evalyne's childhood. She attended Laurel Wood Academy and Walla Walla College where she met and then married Clarence Shepherd. His pastoral work took them to several churches in Oregon where their children, Minda Lea and Lynn, were born. They moved to Southern Rhodesia, Africa in1951 as missionaries living first at Bulowayo, where Evalyne helped establish an African Red Cross group then at Gwelo where she taught at Rhobecon Adventist School. After returning to the U.S. seven years later, Evalyne was a partner in her husband's pastoral work in the Puget Sound area (Bremerton, Renton, Highland Park, Everett) while teaching school and finishing her college degree. She loved teaching Kindergarten and taught for thirty years in Everett and Bellingham, Washington. Her husband passed away in 2003. She leaves behind son, Lynn Shepherd; daughter, Minda Lea (Mindy) Christie; son-in-law, Ralph Christie; sister, Gladys Robison and five nephews.
