Fred was one of the first people we met when we moved to Lynden in 1997, and our daughters adopted him and Mary into our family, calling them Grandpa Fred and Grandma Mary. Fred dutifully came to their piano recitals, Grandparent's Day at pre-school and birthday parties. We loved watching Fred laugh because he'd keep going until the tears came out of his twinkling eyes, bringing joy with them. We knew him to be a gentle man, with a kind heart...a man of deep faith in God. We admired the love between Fred and Mary and how it spilled over into the lives of their children. We don't know how many times he told us the story of his 90th Birthday Celebration with the Mariners. He enjoyed that day so very much! He was so proud of his family. It brings us joy to imagine Fred and Mary together again. David and Judy, thank you for sharing your Dad and Mom with us. Our Prayers are with you now.

Dear Judy, Don, David and family,
I believe your Dad and Mom were my Dad and Mom's 1st friends when they moved to Lynden in the 50's. And stayed the best of friends for their entire lifetime, and what dear friends they were to all of us!! There are so many wonderful memories of being with you all at your family home on Loomis Tr. and on Forest Circle!
We will all miss Fred and his wonderful bear hugs!
Our prayers and smypathies are with you during these difficult times!! and know that I will always have a special place in my heart for Fred!
Wish we could be there with you for his memorial Mass.
