Jan E. Smith entered into rest at the age of 73 on March 17, 2011 at her family home in Birch Bay, WA. She was born in Seattle, WA where she attended and graduated from Queen Anne High School. After high school Jan received her degree in Registered Nursing from the University of Washington. Jan was a long time resident of Birch Bay, and never took well to retirement. She worked at Birch Basket Yarns and Gifts where she was able to share her love of textiles, and also at the Taco Bell in Blaine, WA. She is survived by her husband Tom Smith and her children; James, Robert, Tom Jr., Jim, Lori and Teri, along with six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Family would like to express their gratitude to the Birch Bay community for the immense amount of support and comfort they provided especially during her last days. It was very much appreciated and will not be forgotten. A celebration of Jan's life will be determined at a later date.
