Jody Wade Obituary

Jody Marie Wade, age 64, passed from death unto life eternal on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at St. Francis Care Center, Bellingham, WA. She was born Oct. 15, 1946 in Ottawa, Franklin Co., Kansas. Daughter of Raleigh W. Wade (deceased) and Jean Dailey Wade Weatherby presently of Custer. Sister to Carl (Betty) of Redmond, WA.; Raleighta (Ron) Kriens of Indonesia; Warren (deceased); Steve (Joan) of Lebanon, OR.; Daryel (Robin) of Blaine and Jim (Pam) of Ferndale. The family moved to WA. when Jody was twelve. Wife of Darryl Butts, Sr. (deceased); mother of Darryl Butts of Bellingham; Warren (Elizabeth) Black stationed in San Antonio, TX.; and Cassandra (Erik) Bokamper of Bellingham. Grandma to two boys and Baby Marie who was waiting for Grandma to come home. Aunt to thirteen, cousin to ten, step-daughter to John Weatherby, also step-sister to Cathy Weatherby and her three brothers. "Auntie" and "Grandma" to many other little ones, especially Laila and RaeLynn; friend to Janet and Robin, as well as many others on her life's journey. At one time Jody and her children were homeless in CA. but by the grace of God they were re-united in WA. She loved her work with mothers and their children as night manager at Lydia Place for 14 years. She had hoped to serve there for twenty years. Jody had a beautiful, loving, giving spirit and would rather give from her limited means than to receive, using her crafting talents to make quilts, lap robes, hats, scarves, bread, cakes, cookies and more. If you received a gift from her, it was an original art piece. She was content with little but gave much of herself. She also served through her LDS church. We, her family, wish to thank Hospice and the staff of St. Francis Care Center for their loving care as she struggled with cancer and treatments; also her church friends and others whom we will long remember. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Lydia Place, P.O. Box 28487, Bellingham, WA 98228, or a charity of your choice. Memorial service to be held at her church, LDS Chapel, 5800 Northwest Rd., Ferndale on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 5:00 p.m. Please sign the Book of Memories, light a candle and leave your condolences for the family at www.JernsFuneralChapel.net Jerns Funeral Chapel & On-site Crematory Bellingham, WA

It was a pleasure to have known Jody through Lydia Place! She LOVED that place and all the moms and kids LOVED her. Even during her illness, she stopped in at Lydia Place to help out as much as she could. And Janet, you were a true friend to her. She could always rely on you! I will miss Jody, she had a will and dreams that got her many places. One year she was ready to walk the Human Race! May all your dreams come true, Jody. We will miss you!!!

Jody was an inspiration and a truly giving person. She was an incredible gift to Lydia Place and all of us who were privilidged and honored to work with her. She'll definitely be missed. I hope that her family is taking comfort from one another in their loss.

we had in Jody an angel of compassion and strength. she knew how to listen. Jody was very thoughtful and she showed so many women and children that they could get through tough times and accomplish the hard work needed to construct a better future. Around Jody you forgot to fail and felt strong and capable. That was the joy and love I felt in our friendship. Jody did an amazing amount of handcrafts and made beautiful things while listening and being calm. She was a great source of wisdom and comfort in difficult times. I will always remember how brave and thoughtful and practical Jody was about life and death.

Cassie & Family:
Your mom was such an asset to Lydia Place both in her compassion for the families and positive attitude and laughter she shared with the staff. I am glad I got to share in Jody's life and am inspired by her on-going commitment to helping others. I hope you find comfort in this time of loss.
Jody - I will continue to honor your memory, thank you for showing me what humility and sincerity can look like.

Darryl, Warren, and Cassie; I am so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. As a person who was often at the receiving end of her charitable nature, I will always remember your mom as a person who welcomed my scruffy friends and I into her home for a bath and a warm place to stay. As the mother of one of her grandsons, I will remember how she delighted in the touch of that newborn baby.
Much love to you all on your journey through loss and reawakening. XOXO
