Joey Francis Obituary

Joey B. Francis was born January 5, 1916 in Pescadero, California and passed away peacefully July 10, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family. After his father, Frank, suddenly passed, Joey moved to Crows Landing, CA at eight years of age. He and his older brother John started supporting their mother, Bell, while Joey was in grammar school. While attending Orestimba High School in Newman, CA, Joey fell in love with his childhood friend, Florence Alvernaz. They enjoyed a seventy-two year marriage until her passing on August 8, 2010. Over the course of their marriage, Joey and Florence shared a wonderful life together with passions for bowling, tennis, fishing, gardening, and raising their family. Joey was a volunteer firefighter for Crows Landing, and Director of Public Works for both Moffett and Crows Landing Naval Bases for over thirty years. He was a volunteer custodian at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he worshipped. He is survived by his daughter Sharon Van Sant (Vernon); his daughter Renee Hove (Ken); his son Christopher deLellis-Francis (Robbi); his grandchildren Tom Van Sant (Suzanne), Holly Rooth (Eric), Ken Hove Jr. (Maria), Jennifer Carr (Chris), and Ian deLellis; his great grandchildren Hannah, Benjamin, Angela, and Joseph Rooth, Alia Carr and Miranda Fernandez; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Moles Bayview Chapel in Bellingham WA on Thursday, July 14, at 2:30 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice.
