John Tamman, Jr. went to the loving arms of Jesus on April 26, 2013, after a brief illness at his winter home in Yuma, Arizona at the age of 85. He was born in Burlington, Washington to Pearl and John Tamman, Sr. on September 23, 1927. He married Hilda Gunderson in June of 1951, and together they raised their family in the Skagit Valley. John and Hilda enjoyed 56 years of marriage before her death in 2007. As a young man John had various jobs, including, logging and truck driving, before joining the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War and Reserve Duties. In the early 1960s he started Johnny's Septic Service and Johnny On The Spot. John was a very well known and respected businessman. He was active in the Elks, Moose, Eagles, his camping club, and was a passionate supporter of the Bay View Methodist Church. In November 2009 he married Betty Morgan, with whom he found love and happiness again. John is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his children Mike & Kristine Tamman, Cheri Tamman, and Rick Tamman; grandchildren Geoffrey & Jennifer Tamman, Corynn Tamman, Cody Huntsman, Sean & Kim Tamman , Dana & Derek Holmes; and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by a multitude of cousins, as well as his nieces and nephews from the families of Obert Gunderson, Walter Gunderson, Dan Gunderson, Gudrun Trapeur, Selma Westby, Grace Winbolt, Ruth Bakke, Leah Hawkinson Torkleson and Anne Dykers. John was a man of integrity, loyal character, and an ever present "Johnny Smile." His children and grandchildren will lovingly remember him as "Pop". He will be greatly missed.
