Lifetime Lynden resident, Lorraine Nelson, age 84, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham. She was born February 8, 1928 to Robert and Mary Edna (Alex) Blow. Lorraine was a 1945 Lynden High School graduate and on April 19, 1952 she married Gerald Nelson. Outside the home, Lorraine worked in banking at People's State Bank and also in retail. Active in her community, she was a charter member of VFW Post #9301 Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at Lynden Senior Center. Lorraine was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Gerald in June 2011; Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ryan) Lockwood of Sedro Woolley; son, Mike (Margaret) Nelson of Lynden; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, February 9, 1:00 pm in Greenwood Cemetery followed by a 2:00 pm memorial service at Hope Lutheran Church, 900 E. Grover St., Lynden with Pastor Joel Lohafer officiating. Memorials are suggested to Whatcom Hospice House, 2901 Squalicum Pkwy., Bellingham, WA 98225.
