Marjorie Boice Obituary

Marjorie Grace Boice left us to be with our Lord on March 4, 2011 in Bellingham, WA at the age of 91. She was born December 25, 1919, to Ludvig and Mathilda (Gunderson) Anderson, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Marjorie came to Whatcom County in 1944 and married Wayne Boice in November 1959. She worked for J.J. Newberry & Co., S and H Kress & Co., and Bonanza "88". She was a volunteer Docent at the Hovander House in Ferndale and also volunteered at the Senior Center. She belonged to the "Home League" and "League of Mercy" of the Salvation Army. She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne Boice, her parents, and one step-daughter - Mary Ann Harris, 2 sisters Oletta Anderson and Nellie Stenerson, and one brother Lyle Anderson. She is survived by her sister Lucille Carter (Bellingham), and brothers, Melvin Anderson (Minnesota), Don (Dixie) Anderson (Minnesota), and one step-daughter Ruth (Jim) Ingersoll, as well as many special nieces and nephews: Nancy Winton, Suzanne (Steve) Moore, Teri (Bob) Slyter, Denise Stevens, and Bruce Carter. Also great-nieces & nephews: Chris Moore, Jennifer (Scott) Henken, Kevin (Amy) Winton, Carter Winton, and Lesley (Gary) Katz and Colin Slyter. She loved to play cards (especially when she won) and to play Bingo. Marjorie's love of family, her generous spirit, and her willingness to make life better for others were important to her. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice House, Medic 1, Our Saviors Lutheran Church, or to a charity of your choice. A special thank you to The Whatcom Hospice House staff and volunteers for their loving care through her final days. Services will be held March 11th, at 11:00 am @ Moles Funeral Home, Bayview Chapel in Bellingham. Our deepest condolences go to "Aunt" Marjie's entire family... we feel very blessed to have known Marjie and to have shared many wonderful family events/occassions, making these memories... the many conversations, the sparkle in her eyes and in her laughter... so wonderfully cherished.
