Mary Lee Olson, age 76, passed from this earth on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at home surrounded by family. She was born on October 27, 1934 in Bellingham, Washington to George DeForest and Bertha Lee Wasell. Mary Lee was a lifelong Whatcom County resident and a graduate of Ferndale High School with many of her wonderful friendships extending back to these early years. She loved the outdoors and was devoted to her children and grandchildren, allowing each of them to shine in their own way. She lived a life of grace, dignity, and integrity. Preceding her in death were her parents and her daughter, Lynda Olson. She is survived by her brothers, Jim DeForest (and wife Linda) and John DeForest, and her children Jim Olson (and wife Tamie), Becky Olson-Hernandez (and partner Nanci), Kathy Adams, and Tina Nordby. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tyler Olson (and wife Amber), Breanna Zender (and husband Joel), Jonathan Hernandez (and partner Kristine), Jared Hernandez, Alexander Adams, MacKenzie Nordby, and Jessica Olson-Hernandez and 6 great-grandchildren. There will be no funeral service, per Mary Lee's request. We ask instead that you take a moment to remember some of the special times you shared with her. Mary Lee was indeed a loving woman of grace and kindness. Many of my fondest growing up memories are of times spent with MaryLee and the Olson family. Her patience and love of children was an inspiration to me. May peace and happy memories surround her family.
