Dear Ivan,
We were very sad to hear the news about
your father. I am dismayed at the loss
of someone who has been a good friend,
a positive companion, and a
professional colleague over a period of
more than four decades. But I am also
proud of our collaboration, and how
much we were able to achieve during
that time. Please convey our deep
regrets to your family.
Your father certainly made an
impressive mark in our field of coastal
studies, and his contributions will be
helpful to further generations of
scientists. Fortunately there are some
substantial books to present his work.
We shall miss him very much.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing . I was the deaf lady who came to clean his house for a number of years . He was like the grandfather I never had and such a gentle special man. I'll surely miss him . My prayers are with the family .

Dear Howard, I'm sorry to hear of your fathers passing. He was such a kind man and I fondly remember both of your parents. I still see the black Volkswagen wagon with the plastic flower on the antenna when I drive by the house on Garden or the former site of your moms shop in Fairhaven. Please accept my condolences.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Schwartz family at this difficult time. As one of Maury's Graduate Students in the late 1980s, he provided me the encouragement and mentorship I needed to complete my MS and move into a fulfilling career in the engineering consulting business. I have fond memories of Maury-led field trips throughout western Washington, his sense of humor and his excitement for the coastal work we were doing. Thanks for all you did for me Maury, may you rest in peace.
