I called her ‘Mother’
, though she was not my mother,
But more a mother than any mother could be.
I've come to love Muriel more than any other;
She took me in her charge and set me free.
She kept her eyes on me and let me stray.
I learned things hard, which means I learned them well,
And got to know myself along the way.
My hope and faith and pride are all from her and her strengths.
Muriel; my roots are in your heart; you will be part of everything I do,
I don't know if writing this allows me to express how I feel;
or is it just a reminder of how much I've lost?
Losing Muriel broke my heart.

Muriel was a good friend and neighbor for almost 35 years. She always kept an eye out for her neighbors and would let us know what was going on. We shared many a cup of tea at her house or coffee at my house. Through the years we became very close, pet sitting for each other, taking in the mail and doing little things to help. She always spoke her mind and cared for those that came into her life.
I will miss her.

Muriel was a very special person in our lives...she was like a second mom. We will always cherish the wonderful memories we have, from the time we spent at the Salvation Army with her when we were young kids, to the conferences in California and other church travels, and the wonderful trip to Mazatlan, Mexico we took with her and Harriet Knight. The most memorable times were visiting her at her home, or the times she came to our family gatherings at our house, or Carol's house. She was family to us and I will always be greatful and thankful to God for bringing us together...I truly believe we have these wonderful people in our lives because God had a hand in it! Thank you to Susan and Glen for sharing her with us. We will miss her greatly.
God Bless your family,
Cheryl (Toler), Carol (Parsons) and family
