Thunder roiled overhead, echoing across the bay. There was a pause in conversation, followed by a moment of silence. Then a quip broke the hush, "It must be mom, bowling in heaven..." Mom passed away August 30, 2013 from complications arising from a massive stroke. She fought a number of ills; diabetes, her first stroke, kidney failure and cancer in the last 5 years. Yet she always showed a smile and her loving heart to those who came to know her. She was born November 23, 1934 to Arnold Karl Keith and Violet Clover in Whatcom County. She attended Whatcom Junior High and graduated from Meridian High School. She married Jordan W. Orr in 1953. In the years following, she gave birth to four children, Roxanne, Rick, Cheryl, and Robert. Mom loved bowling and was a member of various leagues throughout her life. Though she was not a "crafty" person, she enjoyed knitting, especially her knitting machine, needlepoint and making clothes for her daughter's dolls, and her grandchildren. Nora is survived by her children Roxanne Orr, Rick Orr, Cheryl Orr, Robert Orr, and "adopted" daughter Jackie Lynch, her grand-daughters Alicia and Clarissa, and great grand children, Casey and Sebastian, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived and remembered by her sister Carmen, and her ex-husband, Jordan W. Orr, her In-laws, Louie and Patricia Malloy, Bev Siguaw, and Joan Orr. Her internment will be at Bayview Cemetery, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013 at 2 pm. A celebration of Nora's life will be announced at a later date.
