Robert "Bob" "Bobby" S. Burrous 4/9/1925 - 10/12/2013 Robert Burrous, age 88 of Bellingham passed away peacefully on October 12, 2013 at Whatcom Hospice House. He was born in Ferndale, WA on April 9, 1925, the tenth child of Charles and Bertha Burrous. He graduated from Ferndale High School in 1942. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nellie M. Burrous, and two daughters, Connie Crocker (Dave) and Sharon Salhus (Dennis), three grandsons, Marcus Crocker (Lisa) of Bend, Oregon, Kipp Salhus (Melissa) of Ferndale and Tye Salhus of Bellingham, and five great-grandchildren, Payton, Campbell and Sawyer Crocker, and Cody and Casey Salhus. Robert was preceded in death by three infant siblings, two brothers, Charles Burrous (Ida) and Drue Burrous (Mona) and four sisters, Violet Bring (Jim), Opal Steltz (Karl "Red"), Fern Swenson (Palmer) and Norma Smith. Robert served in the U.S. Navy Seabees Unit CBMU529 during World War II for three years in the South Pacific. He was a life member of VFW Post #1585 and Navy Seabee Veterans of America. The things he enjoyed most were camping, fishing, hunting, golfing and dancing. After both Bob and Nellie retired from Wilder Construction, they enjoyed wintering in Arizona for 15 years and also traveled and cruised to many places. To NMB: This I will remember - When the rest of my life is through, the finest thing I've ever done is simply loving you. Just Me: RSB One of his favorite poems was, "When the western sun is setting and your mind is trouble free, and of others you are thinking, won't you sometimes think of me". The family is honoring his request for no public services. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Whatcom Hospice House, 2800 Douglas Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225.
