She got things done Shirley W. Maconaghie, age 82, passed away January 16, 2011 in Bellingham. She was born June 27, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA to Walter and Margaret (Rudolph) Moore. She married D. O. "Mac" Maconaghie in 1951 and together they followed his military career and eventually moved to Bellingham in 1959. Shirley was an active volunteer for decades in a number of groups including the Boy Scouts and the local Orthopedic, Hospital and Cancer Associations. Shirley was kind, gracious, and always proud of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Mac in 1977. She is survived by her sons Hugh (wife Lynda) and James, grandchildren Cassandra (husband Jason) Costello, and Jaime Maconaghie, great-grandson Tommy James Maconaghie, and sister Dolores (husband Bill) Sherman. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Assn. A Celebration of Shirley's Life will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Fri., Jan. 21 at 1 PM followed by a reception. Shirley and I did Cub Scouts together when we both lived in Geneva. Have great memories of those times. Only saw her a few times in recent years. Thoughts and prayers go out to you.
