Stanley Ray Honrud, age 79, died peacefully on his farm in Custer, Washington on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Stan was born on September 8, 1936 in Glasgow, Montana to Ludwig and Belle Honrud. Stan moved to the Loomis Trail Rd Farm in Custer in 1942 at the age of 6. Stan went to school at Custer Grade school and graduated from Ferndale High School in 1956. He married Betty Puffert on August 9, 1968 at Sunrise Baptist Church and moved to the farm across Dakota Creek from his parent's farm where they raised their 4 children. Stan worked as a carpenter alongside his cousins for Honrud Construction. He was a heavy equipment operator for Dick Vellema, Clark Vellema and for Stremler Gravel where he retired in 2007. Stan farmed his farm while working in construction. He raised beef cattle on his home place and was a partner in a dairy operation. Stan enjoyed travelling with his 5th wheel trailer and camping with his family. In his spare time Stan enjoyed wood working and gardening. Stan is survived by his loving wife, Betty of 48 years of the family farm. He is also survived by his 4 children, son Darrell Puffert (Donna) of Custer, WA, daughter Debbie Brower (Puffert) (Jim) of Kennewick, WA, daughter Sheila Dalry (Honrud) (Darin) of Blaine, WA and son Stanley J. Honrud (Lacey) of Marysville, WA. Stan has 5 grandchildren, Heather Brower, Spencer and Conner Dalry, Gracelyn and Nathan Honrud along with his step grandchildren Angela, Jeremiah and Joshua along with many great grandchildren. Stan is survived by his brother LeRoy of Fort Benton, MT; sisters-in-law Glenice Honrud of Glasgow, MT and Eileen Honrud of Glasgow, MT and a foster sister Holly Eckford of Sidney, BC Canada. He is preceded in death by his parents Ludwig and Belle Honrud, and his brothers Ludwig (Jr) and Gordon Honrud. We would like to thank Oliver Ross with the ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Association Evergreen Chapter for his compassion and dedication helping Dad through his journey with "Alias" as Dad would call it. We would also like to thank Dr. Elliott, Dr. Gavareski, Dr. Diestelhorst and the various therapists who assisted in Dad's care. A time of visitation will take place from 4PM-7PM on Thursday, June 16th at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. A 2nd visitation will be from 12-1PM followed by a 1PM funeral service at Sunrise Baptist Church in Custer, WA. All family and friends are welcome to attend graveside services at 3:30PM at Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden, WA. Memorials may be made in Stan's name to the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter, 19226 66th Ave S, Suite #L-105 Kent, WA 98032.
