Thomas Bentley Cederlind passed away in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Tom was a very successful numismatist and historical scholar. He also sold antiquities. Tom was a widely renowned scholar in ancient Greek and Roman history. He also liked to travel, and as part of his business, he took trips across the country and across Europe; specifically, London and Paris. Tom was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Bellingham on August 9, 1959 to long time residents Dr. and Mrs. Irvin Cederlind. He grew up in Bellingham, and graduated from Sehome High School in 1977. In high school, he played trombone in the school band. After high school, Tom attended Lewis and Clark College in Lake Oswego, outside of Portland for a couple of years. After some time off, he then transferred to Pomona College in California where he earned a Bachelor's degree in ancient history in 1986, and graduated magna cum laude. The youngest of four brothers, Tom's passing was a major and unexpected loss to his two surviving brothers, Jim of Seattle and Dr. Gary Cederlind (wife Cathy; kids Ben and Tara) of Sacramento, CA. Aside from his brothers, niece and nephew, Tom is survived by his three year old son, Leif Spenser. Tom is in our prayers and remains in our hearts. The loss of our loving brother will be felt for a long time to come. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home in Bellingham on Tuesday, December 29th from 3-5 PM. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Westford Funeral Home in Bellingham at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 30. Reception will follow. Committal will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
