Uncle Tom,
To some you were an enigma, others, a partner in crime. You had a wicked sense of humor and stubborn streak a mile wide. When I was little you had me convinced that your tattoos were cartoons that you could make dance when you flexed your muscles. When my boys were little; one Christmas I spent in WA, you had them convinced that you were Santa Clause & that they needed to leave Santa a shot of whiskey instead of milk with the cookies. (It took me years to convince them otherwise) I always looked forward to our visits & your ability to find humor in some of the situations we found ourselves in: like the time my dog broke out the back window of your pickup to follow you and Jim into the bar. It never failed , anytime we got together there was always a situation that we could laugh our butts off over, whether it was a practical joke or the simple mistake of mailing my dad’s reading glasses to Mickey in CA cuz we thought they were his. (You picked up on this quicker than nana & I…, after you mailed them) I will always treasure the laughs we had. The thing I will miss the most is the devilish gleam you always had in your eyes when you smiled or when you were up to no good. Your laugh was contagious and you always appreciated a good practical joke. I wish I had been there when your roommate informed you that a pissed off very pregnant woman showed up at your house in WY asking “where the hell Tom Brakus was” the look on your roommates face was priceless. It’s too bad you were out hunting when I came through WY, but I know you had a good laugh over it. To me you weren’t just an Uncle; you were my friend as well. Sometimes you listened and offered advice & sometimes you told it like it was (with no filter) But I always knew where I stood with you. You made a huge impression on me and I will never forget the laughs we shared and the good times we had.
I will always Love you and Miss you.
