Tom was born in Bakersfield, CA on June 28, 1947. Soon afterwards he moved to Klamath Falls, OR where the family ran a dry cleaning plant and Tom attended his first few years of elementary school. Once again the family moved and continued running a dry cleaning plant in Yakima, WA. It was here that Tom roamed the surrounding hills on his bicycle and learned to fish and hunt. When Tom entered the 7th grade, his parents and brother moved to Bellingham, WA. Tom helped his father run the Town and Country Cleaners on Cornwall Ave. Tom graduated from Bellingham High School in 1966. After taking a few college classes in Skagit Valley, he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged to come home and help his aligning father. He married Cheryl Setzer in 1968 and together had two children: Sarah and Daniel. Tom worked at a couple of local businesses before being hired at Intalco Aluminum in Ferndale. Working mostly in the cast house in management . After Tom's first wife passed away, he met and married Deni and enjoyed 23 years of marriage with her. After 36 years at Intalco Tom retired. He spent another 11 years working as the Facility Manager and Senior Ministry leader for Christ the King Community Church Bellingham. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles, traveling and served on 8 different short-term mission teams. Tom's servant heart motivated him to meet new people and make many friends. Tom entered the presence of Lord, on November 18, 2016. He was 69 years old. Tom is survived by his wife, Denice Starbuck, daughter, Sarah Starbuck, son, Daniel Starbuck (Sandy) two grandchildren, Kylara and Colten Starbuck, his older sister, Sandra Starbuck, several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack M. and Wilma F. Starbuck, brothers Richard and David Starbuck. A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Community Church, 4173 Meridian Street, Bellingham, on November 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Many thanks to the staff of Highgate Senior Living who cared for Tom during his last days. The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Washington.
