Bill passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at his home in Olympia. The family expresses their thanks for the excellent care given by his private caregivers and the nurses at Providence Hospice. He is survived by his wife Lavada, his son Ken (Nan) of Olympia and his sister Mary Winerd of Minden, Nevada. Bill was born in Longmont, Colorado on May 19, 1921. His family moved to Whatcom County in 1927 and he lived there until 2014. He served in the U.S. Army Eighth Air Force in England during WW2. He married his wife Lavada in 1946 and they had two sons. He was a commercial fisherman at Lummi Island, Point Roberts and Blaine and was a longshoreman in Bellingham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olga and Fred, his son Dewain, his brothers Victor, John, Nick, Fred Jr. and sister Zona. Per his request there will not be a funeral. Arrangements are by the Neptune Society and his ashes will be interred at Woodland Cemetery in Ferndale.
