Robert "Bob" Jacob Blankers was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday afternoon, August 1, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born to Arnoldus and Helena Blankers December 24, 1917 in Bellingham, Washington. He was one of eight children growing up in Lynden. Bob married Kathryn Nieuwendorp in 1941 and together they raised their four children on the family dairy in Everson. Bob was proud of his Jersey cows. He served on staff at NVBC for many years organizing building projects, doing maintenance and visitation, and cultivating a heart for missions there. He also had a passion for Christian education, serving on the board of Western Baptist College (now Corban University) in Salem, OR. Bob found opportunity to witness and serve people in his community whether it was with his tractor or a Bible tract. He loved people and you could see Jesus in his smile when he greeted you. He was currently a member of Grace Baptist Fellowship in Lynden. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gerrit Blankers, Ernest Blankers, Bertus Blankers, Arnold Blankers; sister Tena Bajema; and great-grandaughter Hayley Hanowell.
