Thomas S. Conley, age 87 of Bellingham, WA passed away Monday, November 12, 2012. Thomas Shelton Conley was born June 6, 1925 in Kensington, Kansas, one of seven children to Archie and Lillis Conley. The family later moved to Spokane, WA. Tom joined the Marine Corps after graduating from high school in May, 1942. He served during WWII, fighting in the battle of Iwo Jima, was wounded twice, receiving the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated from WWU with a Master's degree in Education and taught in the Bellingham School District for 33 years. On August 17, 1950 he married Miriam Heany. Tom's hobbies were hunting and fishing and he pursued them with a passion, including the whole family in the fun. He was a kind, loving, quiet man and will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Archie, Leon, and Bill, and sister Charlene. He is survived by his wife Mirian (Mickey), his daughter Deborah Conley, son Thomas P. Conley, his grandson Thomas J. Conley, a sister Anne Tobler of Spokane, WA, and a brother Henry of Mesa, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, November 20 at 2:00pm.
