Rev. Richard H. Husman, faithful servant of the Lord, loving husband, father and grandfather was called home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the age of 79. Richard was born January 31, 1934 in Kewanee, Illinois to Frederick H. and Susan (Mulholland) Husman. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1956 and then served in the US Army for two years. On April 22, 1961 he married Gloretta Womack in Pasadena, CA. Richard received his Master's Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1979. He served Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Bellingham as their founding pastor from 1978 to 2001. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marabeth Barkman; Richard is survived by his wife Gloretta of Ferndale; daughter, Laurie Jessen and husband Scott of Marysville; son, Todd Husman of Kent; and four grandchildren, Aaron (Margaret), Bethany, Courtney and David Jessen. A celebration of Richard's life will be held Friday, October 25, 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas St., Bellingham with Pastor Doug Iben officiating.
