Robert McCready Obituary

Robert L. McCready, 82, of Bellville, died Friday afternoon, July 31, 2015 in Hospice of North Central Ohio, following a two-week illness. He was born Sept. 7, 1932 in Newville and was the son of the late Willis and Evelyn (Zody) McCready. Robert was a 1951 graduate of Butler High School and had lived in the Bellville/Butler area for the last 35 years, coming from Perrysville. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Robert was employed as a heavy equipment operator for D.H. Bowman & Sons of Bellville for 27 years and had also worked with Miller Brothers Excavating. Robert enjoyed camping, auctions, car shows, and NASCAR racing. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 537, Bellville, AMVETS Post 43, Bellville, VFW Post 8586, Perrysville, and the Operating Engineers Union, Columbus. He was a former member of the Perrysville Fire Dept.

Robert is survived by two daughters: Debbie (Chuck Robbins) Stake of Fredericktown and Darlene (Rick) Bilger of Loudonville; one son, Ron (Cheri Etzwiler) McCready of Mansfield, his companion of 21 years, Pat Fry, of Bellville; six grandchildren: Angi (Ryan) VanDyke, Scott (Jennifer) Sutterlin, Lindy (Chad) Beachler, Greg (Samantha) Stake, Devon (Grant) Stevison, Cody (Rebecca Morris) Butler; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Marilyn (Tom) Mowery of Loudonville; and a sister-in-law: Cheryl McCready of Ashland. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lester W. "Bill" McCready.

Graveside military services conducted by the VFW and the American Legion will be held Wednesday, August 5 at 10:30 AM in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville. Friends may gather at the Cemetery from 9:30 until 10:30 prior to the services. The LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, LOUDONVILLE is honored to be serving the McCready family.
