Dean Scott

MANSFIELD: Dean P. Scott went to be with the Lord Sunday evening, December 20, 2015 in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield. He was 79.

He was born March 18, 1936 in Butler, Ohio to parents Douglas Paul & Alice Leona (Martin) Scott. After he graduated from Butler High School with the class of 1954, he proudly served his country by joining the US Marine Corp.

Dean spent most of his working life as a firefighter with the Mansfield Fire Department for 32 years before retiring. He also worked at Jamison Well Drilling for many years.

Saying that Dean was passionate about his family would be an understatement. He loved his family very much. Dean enjoyed watching his "little man" at all of the sporting events that he was involved in. He was also a bit of a cook. His specialty was his garlic sausage and sauerkraut.

Dean was a member at Berean Baptist Church having formerly served as a trustee there as well. Most recently he was active at Crossroads Community Church and Impact Worship Center.

He is survived by his sons David Scott, Douglas Scott and Daniel Scott; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Alice Fiskness and Elizabeth Hensey and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his brother Roger Scott.

His family will receive friends 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Crossroads Community Church, 1188 Park Avenue West, where a funeral service honoring Dean's life will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Bill Heaton will officiate. The Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will perform military honors. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery.

Contributions in his memory to the Galilean Children's Home may be made at the funeral.
