BELLVILLE: To Dick Bethea, arriving early meant being on time. Punctual, organized and detailed, Dick was a man of routine. Active and hard working Glynn Dixon "Dick" Bethea, Jr., 67, of Bellville unexpectedly passed from this life Monday July 18, 2016 in his rural Bellville home.

The son of Glynn Dixon and Margaret J. (Sams) Bethea, Dick was born December 31, 1948 in Mansfield and graduated from Lexington High School in 1967. Immediately upon graduation, he served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971.

Graduating from North Central Technical College, Dick earned his degree in Information Technology. Dick retired from MoreDirect, after working in the IT Department.

Very active, and health conscious, Dick maintained a healthy lifestyle and exercised daily. A perfectionist in many ways, he worked hard to maintain his lawn and flowers. Dick enjoyed boating, cruising on his Harley and having breakfast each Saturday at the V&M Restaurant. A sports enthusiast, Dick mostly followed baseball and football and supported Clear Fork sports programs.

Known as "Grandpa Hot Rod", Dick along with close friends Gary Smith as "Crew Chief 1" and Arnie Beckel as "Crew Chief 2", worked together to build Dick's prized 1932 Ford Coupe.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Benji (Denise) Bethea of Bellville and daughter Gwen Ternet and her boyfriend Jason Burlison of Ashland City, Tennessee; grandchildren Briar and Sawyer Bethea, Dante, Warren and Payton Kirk, Colt Ternet Jr., J.J. Arnold, and KellieMae Burlison; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Sally Bethea of Ft. Myers, Florida; nieces Michelle Bethea and Nicolle (Bruce) Loris; good friend Charlie Meadows and special friend Jan Dearth.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather Kenneth Flick.

The Bethea family will receive friends Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 10 am-12 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Thursday at 12 pm. Pastor Micah Pelkey will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the Bellville American Legion Post #535.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Clear Fork Athletic Boosters (to benefit the Clear Fork High School Baseball and High School Football Programs) may be made through the funeral home.
