BELLVILLE: Ersel Littleton went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Mifflin Care Center in Mansfield surrounded by loving family. He was 94.
He was born July 16, 1920 in Head Grassy, KY to parents John & Maggie (Dean) Littleton. On June 14, 1942 he married Lodena Gillam and together they lived in the Bellville area most of their life. After almost 72 happy years of marriage, Lodena passed away in June of 2014 but now they are together again.
Ersel was a proud veteran of the US Army and during his WWII service he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals. After his honorable discharge, he worked for White Consolidated Industries for over 34 years until his retirement.
In spare time, Ersel enjoyed traveling, farming, hunting, and just being outdoors. Friends and family will miss his easygoing demeanor.
He was a faithful member of Bellville Freewill Baptist Church, attendee of Faith Chapel in Mansfield, and a lifetime member of the VFW.
Ersel is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry & Dwayne Littleton of Bellville and Don & Jeannie Littleton of Mansfield; five grandchildren (and spouses): Doug (Sally) Littleton, Dwight Littleton, Tammy (Ronald) Hicks, Don (Chris) Littleton, Jr., and Rick (Stacy) Littleton; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers, a sister, a grandson David J. Littleton, and a great-grandson Scott Littleton.
Friends are encouraged to call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Faith Chapel, 674 Hanna Road in Mansfield, where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor Bruce Copley will officiate assisted by Pastor Paul Staton and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery with military honors performed by American Legion Post # 535 of Bellville.
