BELLVILLE: Robert Ray "Bob" Davis passed away Sunday evening, February 8, 2015 in Medcentral Ohio Health Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 80.
He was born October 2, 1934 in Mansfield to parent's Earl and Orpha (Wemmer) Davis. Bob proudly served his country by joining the US Merchant Marines in 1953. He served as a deck hand on the S.S. Cliffs Victory.
In spare time, he took pleasure in everything consisting of Honda and BMW Motorcycles. He worked for years as a motorcycle mechanic for Harrison Reno in California and United Motors in Mansfield. Bob assembled the first Honda Dream Motorcycle shipped from Japan. His week nights and weekends were spent building motorcycles from the bottom up. But above all, Bob cherished his own 1962 BMW motorcycle that he and his wife, Bessie, traveled all over the country on.
Being a jack of all trades Bob also worked at the former White Westinghouse and delivered milk for the Cedar Brook Dairy.
He is survived by his daughters Bessie Clydette (Stephen) Lust and Ada Rayann (David) Ocheltree; six grandson's, Matthew Pryor, Robby (Lindsay) Pryor, Ben (Susan) Ocheltree, Nick Ocheltree, Josh (Christy) Ocheltree, and Andrew (Tiffany) Ocheltree; seven great grandchildren, Collin and Corbin Pryor, Riley and Sylas Blubaugh, Gavin, Marin and Britton Ocheltree; three siblings, June (Malcom) Murphy, Olin (Carol) Davis, and Ruth Rice.
Robert was preceded in death by loving wife Bessie B. (Gibson) Davis, whom he married April 16, 1955; his parents, his daughter Robin Rose Davis, great granddaughter Annabelle Faith Ocheltree and siblings Earl Davis, Zane Davis and Meril Fredrick.
His family received friends at 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Ave., where a funeral service honoring his life followed the calling hours. Celebrant Jerry Wilson officiated.
