Harland "Gil" Sousis Jr.

Harland "Gil" Sousis Jr., 42, a resident of Jackson Cross Road in Pownal, Vt., died Tuesday September 25, 2012 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. surrounded by his familyHe was born in Tampa, Fla., November 7, 1969. He was the son of the late Harland "Whitey" Sousis Sr. and Betty Ann (Chaplin) Sousis. He received his education in Bennington and Hoosick Falls, N.Y.

Gil married the former Donna Dicranian March 28, 1992.

Gil most recently was employed at Trojan Steel and Home Depot.

He loved to play softball and enjoyed bowling and fast cars. He was a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks # 567

Survivors include his wife Donna Sousis of Pownal, a son Austin Sousis of Pownal. Two sisters, Annemarie Buell and her husband Robin of Bennington and Patty Stratton of Shaftsbury. Three brothers, Matt Sousis and his wife Julie of Buffalo, N.Y., Steve Sousis of Virginia and Lenny Chaplin of Bennington. His mother in law Helen Dicranian of Pownal. A brother in law, Paul Dicranian and his wife Patricia of North Bennington and two sister in laws Patty Bounds and her husband Justin of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Polly Dicranian of Hinsdale, N.H. A very close nephew, Jason Dicranian and his wife Tera of Bennington and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a son, Jordan Paul Sousis and a brother Stacy James Sousis.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday Sept 29, 2012 at noon.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
