Jane Elizabeth Cruthers

1918-2012 Jane Elizabeth Cruthers, 94, a former resident of Landgrove, VT and more recently of Manchester, VT died Sunday December 2, 2012 at her residence at Equinox Terrace in Manchester following a brief illness

She was born in Orange, New Jersey June 24, 1918. She was the daughter of the late August Frederick and Edith ( Vance ) Bauer. Jane received her education in West Orange, New Jersey and was a graduate of West Orange High School. She later graduated from Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing

On October 18, 1941 Jane married Thomas Cruthers.

For many years Jane was employed as a nurse at the Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange, New Jersey and later at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT.

She enjoyed golf, traveling, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, bridge and volunteering at Equinox Terrace, Manchester Health Services and Hildene.

Survivors include her children, Thomas Cruthers and his wife Rhodie of Manchester, VT, Andrew Frederick Cruthers and his wife Marilyn Schwasta of Milford, New Jersey and Christina Jane McCaffery and her husband Robert of Plymouth, Michigan. Two grandchildren, Matthew McCaffery of San Antonio, Texas and James McCaffery of Chicago, Illinois. Three step grandchildren, James McNamara of Needham, MA, Lenore Scanlon of Lynnfield, MA and Jensy McNamara of Fort Collins, Colorado. Four great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a brother, August Frederick Bauer, Jr.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date
