Mary Elizabeth Lowell Ennis
1947 2013 NEWRY Mary Elizabeth Lowell Ennis, 65, of Newry, Maine, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 8th, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. The daughter of Frank Sr. and Beatrice (Forbes) Lowell, Mary was born in Norway, Maine on December 6, 1947 and was the oldest of four children. Growing up in Bethel, Maine Mary graduated from Gould Academy in 1966. Upon graduating Mary moved to Hartford, CT and later married Paul Langlois, Jr. They had one daughter Catherine Langlois Anderson. After the sudden passing of her husband in 1969 Mary moved to Bennington, VT where she worked at Bennington Potters. A few years later she met and married Edward Ennis, moved to Arlington, VT, and worked for 25 years as Payroll Administrator/Personnel at Mack Molding Co. Edward predeceased her in 2001. In 2009 she decided to leave VT and m ove back to Newry, Maine where she could be closer to family. Mary had a love for gardening, needlepoint, quilting, antiques, cats, and her daily summer swim at "Letter S" at Sunday River with her close friend Stan Howe. However it was her passion of Genealogy that most knew her by, not only active in research of her own family but for others as well. She was a life member of the Woodstock Historical Society, Trustee and committee member for the Bethel Historical Society, as well as a volunteer for the Research Library and contributor for many other local historical societies. She was a member of the "Busy Bees" group at the Gardner Robert Memorial Library in Hanover, Maine, a member of the Gould Academy Alumni Association in Bethel, Maine, and Senior Citizens in Bethel, Maine. Mary is survived by her mother Beatrice (Forbes) Lowell of Newry, daughter Catherine Langlois Anderson and husband Kurt Anderson of Mt Tabor, VT, brothers David Lowell and partner Elaine Ecker, Frank Lowell Jr. and partner Nathalie Berry, Robert Lowell and wife Laura all of Newry, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her father Frank Lowell Sr., first husband Paul Langlois Jr, and second husband Edward Ennis. Mary will be remembered for her laughter and kind heart. She had the ability to make you feel welcomed and included in any situation and she will be greatly missed by many. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service will be held at Locke Mills Union Church in Greenwood, Maine at 2:00pm November 16th. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's name to the Gardner Robert Memorial Library in Hanover, Maine or the Bethel Historical Society.
