WOODFORD -- Patricia Ann Cornell, 52, a resident of Route 9 in Woodford, died unexpectedly Monday, April 30, 2007, at her residence.
She was born in Bennington on Jan.19, 1955. She was the daughter of Ray and Pat (Hogan) Farnum. Pat received her education in Bennington and was a 1973 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. She later attended Southern Vermont College where she attended and graduated from the nursing program as an R.N.
Pat was first married to Charles Bevis. Mr. Bevis died in 1979. She later married Donald E. Cornell on June 19, 1982.
Over the years Pat had worked at several area nursing homes and hospitals including the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center, Weston Hadden, the Vermont Veterans Home, Sweet Brook Nursing Home in Williamstown, Mass., Saint Peters Hospital in Albany, N.Y., and more recently on 2 East at The Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Pat was a former member of the Bennington Rescue Squad. Her family and grandchildren were her main interest.
Survivors include her husband Donald E. Cornell of Bennington; a son Jason C. Bevis and his wife, Devin, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; a daughter Mindy Dame and her husband, Kyle, of Bennington; three step children, Kelly Stuart and her husband, Willard, of Bennington, Daniel Cornell and his wife, Kaitlin, of North Adams, Mass., and David Cornell and his wife, Melissa, of North Port, Fla.; her parents, Ray and Pat Farnum of Bennington; a brother Steven and Deborah Farnum of New Port Richie, Fla; a sister Karen Tienken and her husband, Joseph, of Bennington; two grandchildren, Dawson and Carter Bevis of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; three step-grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Stuart, of Bennington and Olivia Cornell of North Port, Fa.; nieces and nephews including Derrick Tienken and his wife, Shannon, of Bennington, Nicole Jacques and Chris Farnum of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Leslie Johnson of Spring Hill, Fla.; her Godmother Mary Francis Main of Bloomfield, Conn.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Friday, May 4, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered.
The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
If friends desire, contributions in memory of Patricia Ann Cornell may be made to one’s favorite charity, the Hoosick Falls Youth Soccer Program, The Catamount Youth Wrestling Program or to the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center unit 2 East through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
