Richard Dorman Sr.
1934-2010 POWNAL, VT Richard O. Dorman Sr., 75, of Pownal, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on June 20, 2010.
Born in Bennington on July 21, 1934, the son of Otis and Daisy Hewitt Dorman, Richard received his early education in N. Bennington and Pownal Schools. He was a graduate of Williamstown, Mass., High School.
He married Edna "Bonnie" Paul on Jan. 22, 2006. His first wife of 51 years, the former Patricia Franz, passed away in 2002.
Richard worked in car sales and service for Shapiro's and McAndrew-King.
He enjoyed collecting honey from honey bee hives, working on cars and gardening. He was a NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his cats.
He attended Men's Christian Fellowship Group in Bennington. He enjoyed singing and Christian music, and he loved the Lord.
He leaves his wife, Edna "Bonnie" Dorman of Pownal; his sons, Robert Dorman of Clarksburg, Mass., Richard Dorman Jr. of Venetia, Pa., and William Dorman of Bradenton, Fla.; his daughters, Linda Goyette and Brenda Jones, both of Bennington; his stepson, Gary Viands II of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; his stepdaughters, Irene Ryman of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Bonnie Wiley of Vienna, Va.; his daughter-in-Christ, Jonny Emerson of Dorset, Vt.; his sister, Margaret Martin of Greenfield, Mass.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his beloved cats, Tiger, Taffy, Benny and Babee.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 12 p.m. at the North Pownal Congregational Church. Pastor Gary Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the North Pownal Congregational Church on Saturday, June 26 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

To Dick's family,
We are sorry to hear of your loss. May it be of comfort to know that he is at peace and no longer in pain. I taught in Pownal in the 60's and was glad to meet Dick and Bonnie at the class lunches that I attended with Eddie.
