Gerri thinking of you now, both you and Bob were good friends. Didn't realize that Bob had passed 2008. Maybe you knew that George passed August 10 2020. Thinking of you wish we could visit..... Linda Schiavone

My brother, Patrick Henry, and I knew Bob as children, as his dad ,Walter, and our dad, Lindsay, worked together in the Suffolk Cty. DA's office. Bob was also in our Boy Scout Troop #20 and Eagle Patrol. We went to BS summer camp together to Baiting Hollow, LI back in the early 40's. When we last saw Bob was at David Dimmick's service at Oak Beach. Bob was a fine gentleman with a great sence of humor. I'm sure he'll be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance.

Gerry,

I'm sorry for you and your family's loss. I was always amazed by the confidence Bob had in the Stimson and the maneuver He would put her through. Stimson reunions will never be the same without him. It was a Honor to serve with him on the Stimson. I have always thought that I would never have wanted to serve with anybody else as my Captain. Fortunately, I never had to.

Dear Gerry:
There isn't a day that passes I don't have thoughts of the sadness you and your family must have. As you, I will surely miss Bob, a fraternity brother and more importantly, a true friend.

Dear Gerry, brother Fopeano notified me about Bob. We all have fond memories of our times with both of you at RPI and our big 50th reunion of the fraternity. If we accept life for ourselves, we have to somehow accept it all. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best.---Herb

Dear Gerry,

Capt. Weeks is how I have recalled him all these many years. My first boat & he my first skipper; can't think of one without the other. Over the years we have all lost loved ones and shipmates but some, in our minds, seem indestructable--parents, kids & our skippers. My thoughts are with you all since I learned of your loss.

Gerry,

Saddened of your loss of a wonderful husband and man and for myself knowing that I will never experience his quick wit. Those were great days on the Seadragon and Stimson. You two were always wonderful to be around. I will bever forget you and Bob or the brook running through your yard in Ledyard.

Gerry and Family: Dorothy and I are deeply sorry for your loss and regret we couldn't be with you for the wake and funneral. We were in church both days praying for all of you. Bob was a great CO and friend from the time we first met upon my arrival at SSBN 655 Gold Crew offices in New London in 1967. We enjoyed visits at reunions and at the Weeks' residence and followed the many ups and few downs of his military and political careers closely over the years. Our association with Bob and Gerry brought us many new and lasting friends. We much enjoyed the loan of the submarine diving alarm during the time of the Weeks' European tour and hated to give it back upon their return. It was installed on our roof and hooked to a wall switch by our front door. Three blasts meant the seven kids were to surface immediately for a meal. They well remember and were saddened to hear its owner had passed. The Weeks family will remain in our thoughts and prayers and we'll remain in touch.

My thoughts go out to the Weeks family and friends. I served with Bob on Stimson Gold for five interesting Polaris patrols in 1968-71. Bob was unique as a commanding officer, operating more as a team coach than as a typical captain. Bob was also a great influence in my life, making the key contact for my move to a civilian job when I left active duty. We maintained contact for the past 37 years, and I'll miss those interesting conversations.

Gerry and family, It is with a heavy heart I hear my skipper has passed away. It was thru his guidance, leadership and trust that became the foundation of my naval career. Capt Bob was able to always get the best out of his men. He gained respect from us as he gave us respect. I will never forget the help he gave Rita and I in my getting home after my son passed away. We hear on earth will deeply miss his friendship. May the lord calm the seas and accept his arrival. Capt Bob will call his crew together once again and I will be ready to serve once again.

To the Weeks Family,
The Captain was truly one of a kind. He was as much of a Father as a Captain to the crew. He looked out for all of us when we were young and impressionable and gave us a good foundation that follows us through our lives. We wish him fair weather and following seas. Sailor, Rest Your Oars, Job Well Done.

Gerry,

Capt. Bob was a one of a kind. No words can describe how every member of the Stimson crew loved and respected him. He was friendly to the lowest ranked crew member (me) to his XO. He pinned my Dolphins and gave me my first drink. He will always be remembered.

Dear Gerry and family, needless to say what a great loss all we sense. Bob had been a genuine SSBN Henry L. Stimson Commanding Officer and he gave to his country his life. He simply passed on to you His CO position and duties. From now on you, Gerry, is a Captain for your family. We pray for His soul, for you and family. Dmitry&Valentina, Russia.

Bob will be missed by all who knew him. He was a real gentleman and a good guy. I don't think he missed many Rutland County Republican gatherings and always had words of encouragement for others. He served the State of Vermont and our country with distinction. Rest in peace Bob.

O Captain! my captain! our fearful trip is done; The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won; the port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting while follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring: But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drips of red, where on the deck my captain lies, fallen cold and dead.

O captain! my captain! rise up and hear the bells; rise up-for you the flag is flung-for you the bugle trills; For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths-for you the shores a-crowding; For you they call, the swaying mass, their eger faces turning; Here Captain! dear father! This arm beneath your head; It is some dream that on the deck, you've fallen cold and dead.

My captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still; My father does not feel my arm, he has no pluse nor will; The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done; From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won; Exult, O shores, and ring O bells! But I, with mournful tread, walk the deck my captain lies, Fallen cold and dead.
